Darren Austin

Darren Austin fondly recalls hearing the soulful and melodious voices of artists, such as Roberta Flack, Shanice, Toni Braxton, Luther, the Temptations, “little” Michael Jackson, and so many more, during his childhood. These are just some of the balladeers who were played “on repeat” by his mom and dad.

Darren’s musical interests naturally grew to include some of the new school R&B artists, such as Usher, J. Holliday, Avant, and many more in this field. Darren wasn’t just listening to the artists, but he began to hone his craft and own melodious, rich tones by singing along. It can be said that a “discovery” of his gift became known during high school, where he openly began singing around a group of friends. Not only were they very impressed, but they encouraged him to use his voice to inspire others. With much prodding, the bug “officially bit him” to do more publicly.

Darren’s contemporaries in the music field, having blended music, along with video artistry, compelled him to begin building his musical career along this path. His first venture into the recording industry led to Darren’s first recorded and published rendition of a blend of songs, made famous by Adele & One Republic, “Someone Like You,” & “Secrets.”

Eventually, Darren learned to accompany himself on guitar, leading to his band, “Semytones.” The group often could be found performing in and around the New York City area, in local coffee shops, restaurants, and street performances.  The band came to include three singers, a guitarist, a pianist, a saxophonist, and a percussionist.

To pursue his primary vocation, the advancement of Bible education in the Spanish culture, Darren moved to Puerto Rico. There he met and fell in love with his beautiful wife, Jessica. While in PR, Darren learned how to produce and record music. Darren recorded his second album, including 11 tracks, and continues to record passion projects. He blends his love of technology with performing arts through beautiful videos and recording

songs he loves to cover. Darren has learned vocal processing and editing techniques, which now serve him to produce master copies of hit songs and music videos.
