The Most beautiful ballads of Yesterday and Today

What is your favorite ballad or romantic song, that just makes you forget where you are and melts your heart, perhaps even bringing you to tears?  Whatever the emotion, ballads for me are my go-to for the end of a long week, or when I’m riding along in the car. It can be any day, any season, for any reason. But did you notice the trick question? What’s your favorite song? 

If you are a music lover like I am, you have an uncanny way of stating a favorite song one day, and the next day or occasion, it has changed. Do you want to know why I think that is?  It’s because the number of songs in my head, that I love, are almost as endless as the shells on a seashore. Here is a demonstration of how I know that to be fact. (By the way, nothing I’m saying is scientific here…just my perspectives and opinions.)

To demonstrate, how many songs do you automatically start singing along to without having the words written out on paper? For me too many to even begin to count! That’s because, with recorded music, the benefit is that we get to listen over and over and over again, to music that has become embedded into our minds and hearts. Our brains as we know them, I believe, are created to store volumes of data and information that we can’t even fathom for a lifetime. My wife says I’m like Mr. Magoo, and that I’m forgetful. I do think that many wives believe this to be a trait that comes with the “husband as a package deal”.  Anywho I’ve digressed.

So as I write this blog about my favorite “beautiful ballads”, these songs I talk about don’t even scratch the surface. And again, keep in mind these are mine, not yours. So for a fun exercise, put together your list and redo it from time to time, because new favorite songs are being made every day. Since this is today, let me share what I’m listening to right now. I will also then delve into some songs that have become for me, those that I continue to fall back on. I’ll list the artist, song title, and cd.  And this is a “Spoiler Alert” before I even finish the list. This is just a starting list because there are way too many songs/artists for me to name. Guess what? You will have to come back for my “jazz singers” blog that I plan to publish soon. Oh, and then there are the groups, both male and female. I’m going to be blogging crazy! Anyway, here is an attempt at today’s list of some of my favs…part 1!
